Products/Top-Coated

Top Coated Direct Thermal substrates  have a protected coating which is designed to prevent contamination of the thermally-printed image from any condensation, fats, grease, solvents and plasticizers from packaging films that the labeled product may come into contact with during transportation and storage. They may also be a barrier coated on the reverse to give protection on both the print and the adhesive surfaces.

Top-coated grades are usually found in supermarkets on fresh and frozen products that have been packed and labeled in a factory, then transported in refrigerated trucks to the supermarket. They are principally used for pre-packed meat and cheese that requires an individual description and barcode.

 

We also recommend a premium grade of top-coating if you require a much higher standard of protection; or if you need a stronger label (e.g. airline baggage loop labels) we can manufacture direct thermal film on direct thermal paper laminates.

Suited where the direct thermal label will be subjected to a severe environment. Typical uses include stock control, logistics, and medical applications.

White thermal topcoated paper which develops an image which is readable with an infra-red scanner.

Specialty grade. Used in low light dusty environments where IR scanning is required. Can also be used as an additional security feature.
