Products/Polyester Films
Polyester films ( or PET) are recommended for versatile, high-performing labels, tags and window decals. It has high dimensional stability, exceptional clarity, high tensile strength, strong tear and abrasion resistance, displays excellent resistance to solvents, oils and many chemicals and has thermal stability at high and low temperatures. It is unaffected by water and practically impermeable to odors.
The durability, clarity and chemical resistance of PET makes it an ideal material for converting a wide range of niche products. These include nameplates and bar-coded labels for various security products, printed circuit boards, ID labels and for automotive and aerospace pars, high and low temperature labels, autoclaved labels for sterilized and medical applications and much more. Although normally clear, PET films can also be pigmented white, metalized or produced in any colour.
Polyester is generally easy to print and UV cure. The strength and dimensional stability of PET facestocks and liners virtually eliminate web breaks. Cutting dies should be of the sharp carbide-tungsten type. Top coating allows all label printing processes using solvent based or UV cured inks.
Polyester materials that show ‘Void” or similar messages when removed are a familiar tamper-evident device. Variations include destructible metalized polyester with patterned effects, sometimes incorporating security holograms.
Silicone release coated polyester films offer an excellent die-cutting surface and are extremely popular.
